Connect Klaviyo

Send Darwin chat leads to Klaviyo through Zapier: Darwin's New Lead trigger and Klaviyo's Create Or Update Profile action, with each field to map.

  • In Darwin: Integrations → CRM & automation → ZapierOpen in Darwin
  • Updated

Create or update a Klaviyo profile for every lead from Darwin's chat. This runs through Zapier: Darwin's Zapier app starts the Zap and Klaviyo's Zapier app does the work.

A Zap named Darwin to Klaviyo: step 1, the Darwin trigger New Lead; then the Klaviyo action Create Or Update Profile; marked Published.

You need: A Zapier account (the free plan works for this two-step Zap) and Zapier added from Klaviyo's app marketplace. Free and paid Klaviyo accounts work.

  1. Add Darwin to Zapier

In Darwin, open Integrations and select Connect on the Zapier card. Select Add Darwin to Zapier (1) while signed in to Zapier and accept the invite. Darwin is in private beta on Zapier, so the invite adds it to your account.

The Zapier steps in Darwin with Add Darwin to Zapier marked 1, Create key marked 2 and Open Zapier marked 3.
  2. Create a key for Zapier

Select Create key (2). In Integrations → API, name the key Zapier, select Choose and tick the scopes Darwin lists, then select Create key and copy it. Darwin shows it only once.

The Create an API key dialog named Zapier, with Choose marked 1, the Zapier scopes ticked, and Create key marked 2.
  3. Start the Zap with Darwin's New Lead trigger

In Zapier, create a Zap. Choose Darwin as the app and New Lead as the trigger event. Connect your Darwin account by pasting the key, then select Test trigger to load a sample with the visitor's name and email when they leave them.

The Zap trigger: app Darwin, trigger event New Lead highlighted, account Darwin, your workspace, and Test trigger with a sample loaded.
  4. Add Klaviyo's Create Or Update Profile action

Add an action step. Choose Klaviyo as the app and Create Or Update Profile as the action event, then connect your Klaviyo account.

The Zap action: app Klaviyo and action event Create Or Update Profile highlighted, with your Klaviyo account.
  5. Map the fields

Map Email, First Name, Last Name and Phone Number → Phone.

The Create Or Update Profile fields in Klaviyo, each with the Darwin field or typed value that fills it.
  6. Test and publish

Select Test step and check the result in Klaviyo. Then select Publish. Back in Darwin, Build a Zap lists the Zap with its event; Open Zapier manages it.

Good to know

  • Creating a profile doesn't subscribe anyone. Add Add Profile to List to group chat leads, and Subscribe Profile only for people who agreed to hear from you (paid Zapier plan for extra steps).
  • Zaps act on new events from the moment you publish. Earlier leads are in Conversations, which you can export as a CSV.
  • Chats in Agent Studio's preview never start a Zap. Test with a real chat on your website, or with the sample from Test trigger.
