Make and share personal links
Conversion Studio → Links: add a personal link, name it, pick the page it opens, give it a greeting, save it, then choose your email tool (HubSpot, Instantly, Apollo, Outreach, Salesloft, lemlist or CSV) and copy the link into your email.
- In Darwin: Conversion Studio → LinksOpen in Darwin
- Updated
Make a link for each campaign or sequence, give it a greeting, and paste it into your emails. Each person who clicks it gets the greeting with their own name.
Create a link
Open Conversion Studio → Links and select New link. In the dialog, enter a Link name your team will recognize and the Page it opens, such as
/pricingor a full address.Choose a greeting, then select Create link to save it. The next screen lets you Copy link. Without a greeting, select Save as draft; a draft greets no one and cannot be copied until you give it a greeting.
Cancel, the close button or Escape leaves a new link unsaved. With an empty list, you can also start from Outbound, Pricing follow-up, After a demo or Event follow-up. These open an editor with a suggested greeting; select Save changes to keep it.
Write a greeting for the link
In the new-link dialog, select Write a new greeting. In an existing link's drawer, select New greeting. Write the message as in Write greetings.
Select Use for your link to attach the greeting and return to the link's drawer. This keeps the link and greeting together as an unsaved draft. Select Save changes to keep them. Back to the link returns without keeping the new greeting.
Closing the drawer or selecting Discard cancels the unsaved link and greeting changes. Switching to another tab or editor also cancels that editor's changes.
Check the preview
Open a link row to preview its greeting and reply buttons in the drawer. Under Preview as, choose Jane Cooper, Acme to see every detail, or No details to check the fallback words.
Copy the link into your email
Open a saved link. Under For your emails, choose HubSpot, Instantly, Apollo, Outreach, Salesloft, lemlist, or Other / CSV. Select Copy link and paste it into your email or sequence.
Your email tool fills in each person's details when it sends. When Jane clicks, your page opens and the chat greets her by name.
Change or delete a link
Select a link to open its drawer, make your changes, and select Save changes. Discard, the close button or Escape cancels changes since the editor opened or last saved. A failed save leaves your edits in place so you can retry.
Choose Delete link from the link's menu, then Save changes in the bar below the list. Until you save, Discard brings it back.
The address you copy carries the page and the link's ID. Emails you've already sent keep the page they had, so after changing Page it opens, copy the link again for new emails. The greeting is looked up by the link's ID, so a new greeting reaches every email already sent.
Make links from your CRM, code or AI assistant
Your email tool's merge fields are enough for most sequences. When you'd rather keep each person's own address on their CRM record, or make links in bulk, Darwin makes them for you, with every detail already filled in:
- Zapier: the Create Personal Link URL action makes one person's address, for example when a contact joins a HubSpot list, so you can save it to a contact property. The Personal Link Opened trigger tells Slack or your CRM the moment someone opens theirs. See Connect Zapier.
- API:
POST /v1/personal_links/{id}/urlsreturns up to 1,000 addresses per call, each with the greeting that person will see. Links, greetings and their visits have their own endpoints, and thepersonal_link.openedwebhook fires on each new visit. See Give every prospect their own personal link. - AI assistant: ask Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor "Make Darwin personal links for these prospects" with a list, or "Write a greeting for our webinar follow-up." See Use Darwin in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.
A link needs a greeting before it makes addresses. Addresses made this way stay valid when you change the greeting, like the ones in emails you've already sent.
Good to know
- The link only asks your email tool for the details its greeting uses, plus the email address. If you add a name or company to the greeting later, copy the link again.
- Other / CSV uses placeholders like
FIRST_NAMEandCOMPANY. Replace them with your tool's merge fields, or fill them per row in a spreadsheet. - If your email tool couldn't fill in a detail and the link arrives with something like
{{firstName}}, Darwin ignores it and uses your fallback words. - Opening your own link to check it doesn't count in its results: visits from your team and test browsers are left out.
- A workspace can have up to 100 links.
