Connect HubSpot

Send every lead from Darwin's chat to HubSpot through Zapier: Darwin's New Lead trigger and HubSpot's Create or Update Contact action, with each field to map.

  • In Darwin: Integrations → CRM & automation → ZapierOpen in Darwin
  • Updated

Send every lead from Darwin's chat to HubSpot as a contact, so your team can follow up from HubSpot. This runs through Zapier: Darwin's Zapier app starts the Zap and HubSpot's Zapier app does the work.

A Zap named Darwin to HubSpot: step 1, the Darwin trigger New Lead; then the HubSpot action Create or Update Contact; marked Published.

You need: A Zapier account (the free plan works for this two-step Zap) and HubSpot Super Admin permission for the person connecting HubSpot. Any HubSpot plan works.

  1. Add Darwin to Zapier

In Darwin, open Integrations and select Connect on the Zapier card. Select Add Darwin to Zapier (1) while signed in to Zapier and accept the invite. Darwin is in private beta on Zapier, so the invite adds it to your account.

The Zapier steps in Darwin with Add Darwin to Zapier marked 1, Create key marked 2 and Open Zapier marked 3.
  2. Create a key for Zapier

Select Create key (2). In Integrations → API, name the key Zapier, select Choose and tick the scopes Darwin lists, then select Create key and copy it. Darwin shows it only once.

The Create an API key dialog named Zapier, with Choose marked 1, the Zapier scopes ticked, and Create key marked 2.
  3. Start the Zap with Darwin's New Lead trigger

In Zapier, create a Zap. Choose Darwin as the app and New Lead as the trigger event. Connect your Darwin account by pasting the key, then select Test trigger to load a sample with the visitor's name and email when they leave them.

The Zap trigger: app Darwin, trigger event New Lead highlighted, account Darwin, your workspace, and Test trigger with a sample loaded.
  4. Add HubSpot's Create or Update Contact action

Add an action step. Choose HubSpot as the app and Create or Update Contact as the action event, then connect your HubSpot account.

The Zap action: app HubSpot and action event Create or Update Contact highlighted, with your HubSpot account.
  5. Map the fields

Map Email → Email, First name → First Name, Last name → Last Name, Company name → Company and Phone number → Phone. Put Darwin url in a contact property so reps can open the chat from the record.

The Create or Update Contact fields in HubSpot, each with the Darwin field or typed value that fills it.
  6. Test and publish

Select Test step and check the result in HubSpot. Then select Publish. Back in Darwin, Build a Zap lists the Zap with its event; Open Zapier manages it.

Good to know

  • A second Zap on Meeting Booked can update the same contact when the visitor books.
  • HubSpot matches on email, so a returning visitor updates their existing contact instead of creating a new one.
  • Zaps act on new events from the moment you publish. Earlier leads are in Conversations, which you can export as a CSV.
  • Chats in Agent Studio's preview never start a Zap. Test with a real chat on your website, or with the sample from Test trigger.
