More meetings. Less managing.

HubSpot gives you free live chat inside your CRM and an AI customer agent on its Professional tiers. Darwin is built for one job: turning website visits into booked meetings, and getting better at it. Here's how they compare.

THE SIDE-BY-SIDE

The difference,
at a glance.

Most teams already on HubSpot should probably stay there for chat, since it comes with the CRM they're paying for anyway. The case for Darwin starts when the chat window itself needs to produce meetings, not just answer questions. That's the lens for the tables below.

THE DARWIN DIFFERENCE

Your chat works on getting better.

Darwin keeps trying new openings on the pages you allow it to, and it keeps the ones that get visitors talking and booking. You don't run the tests. You just show up to the meetings.

Find your fit

Who is each product for?

Start with the job you need your chat to do.

Turn website visits into sales meetings.

Good fit for

  • Sales teams booking demos from website traffic.
  • Growth teams trying to get more out of every chat.
  • Small teams who'd rather not build the setup themselves.

Less suited to

  • Teams that need chat, CRM and help desk in one system.

Add chat to the CRM you already run on.

Good fit for

  • Businesses already on HubSpot Sales or Service Hub.
  • Teams that want free live chat with basic bots.
  • Support teams deflecting questions with the customer agent.

Less suited to

  • Teams that want openings tested and improved without manual work.
  • Small teams priced out of Professional tiers for AI chat.
A LITTLE MORE DETAIL

Before you
make the move.

Is HubSpot's chat free?

Live chat and a basic rule-based bot come with HubSpot's free tools, but the widget carries HubSpot branding until you move to Starter. The Breeze customer agent is a different story: you need a Professional or Enterprise hub, and it burns HubSpot Credits as it goes.

710
Can HubSpot's chatbot book meetings?

They both can, in different ways. In HubSpot, a chatbot's Book a meeting action pastes a meetings link into the conversation, and the customer agent can hand a qualified lead that same link. Darwin doesn't paste a link so much as offer a slot, then finish the booking in the scheduler you connected during setup. Whichever you use, ask your scheduling provider how it records a completed booking, because that's the number your reports will show.

61114
Does HubSpot test different chat openings?

Not in the chatbot and customer agent guides we reviewed. You write the welcome message and guidelines yourself. Darwin writes opening variants per page, tests them, keeps the better one and starts the next test.

123
Should I use Darwin instead of HubSpot?

Keep HubSpot if it's your CRM, and add Darwin on top. Darwin runs the website conversation and gets the meeting booked. Your contacts, deals and support tickets stay in HubSpot where they already live. There's really only one reason to drop HubSpot's own chat, and that's if booked meetings matter more to you than having every tool under one roof.
