# Darwin + Slack

Tell your team in Slack the moment a visitor leaves their details or asks for a person.

This is the Markdown version of https://www.meetdarwin.ai/integrations/slack, published by Darwin and generated on 13 October 2026.

Darwin tells your team in Slack while the visitor is still on your site: a new lead, a visitor asking for a person, or a meeting booked from the chat, each with a link to the conversation. It runs through Zapier: Darwin's Zapier app starts the Zap and Zapier's Slack app does the work. This recipe is a two-step Zap, which Zapier's free plan includes.

## What you can do

- **Reach them while they're on your site.** A request for a person lands in your channel within seconds, with a link to the chat.
- **Every lead, announced.** New leads and booked meetings can post to the channels your team already watches.
- **You write the message.** Choose the channel and the wording, and include any detail Darwin captured.

## How they work together

1. **Connect Darwin to Zapier.** Add Darwin to your Zapier account and create a key for it in Darwin.
2. **Pick the trigger.** Choose Darwin's Visitor Asked for a Person trigger in a new Zap.
3. **Add Slack.** Choose Slack's Send Channel Message action, map the fields and turn the Zap on.

## Before you connect

- A Slack workspace, free or paid. If your workspace restricts apps, an owner or admin may need to approve Zapier.
- A Zapier account with Darwin added. Darwin is in private beta on Zapier; the setup guide has the invite link.
- Owner or admin access in Darwin, to create an API key for Zapier.

## Questions

**Is this a native Slack integration?**

No. It runs through Zapier. Darwin's Zapier app starts the Zap when something happens in your chat, and Zapier's Slack app does the work in Slack. You choose which fields go where, and you can add filters or extra steps.

**Does it copy contacts Darwin already has?**

No. A Zap acts on events from the moment you turn it on. To bring in earlier leads, download them as a CSV from Conversations in Darwin, or read them with the API.
