# Darwin + HubSpot

New leads from your chat become HubSpot contacts, with the page and a link to the conversation.

When a visitor leaves their name and email in Darwin's chat, Zapier creates the contact in HubSpot, or updates the one with the same email, with the page they chatted on and a link to the conversation. It runs through Zapier: Darwin's Zapier app starts the Zap and Zapier's HubSpot app does the work. This recipe is a two-step Zap, which Zapier's free plan includes.

## What you can do

- **Every lead, in HubSpot.** A visitor who leaves their email becomes a HubSpot contact, or updates the one they already have.
- **Context for the rep.** The page they chatted on, their traffic source and a link to the whole conversation travel with the contact.
- **Free to start.** It's a two-step Zap, so it runs on Zapier's free plan and any HubSpot account.

## How they work together

1. **Connect Darwin to Zapier.** Add Darwin to your Zapier account and create a key for it in Darwin.
2. **Pick the trigger.** Choose Darwin's New Lead trigger in a new Zap.
3. **Add HubSpot.** Choose HubSpot's Create or Update Contact action, map the fields and turn the Zap on.

## Before you connect

- A HubSpot account, free or paid. The person who connects HubSpot to Zapier needs Super Admin permission in HubSpot.
- A Zapier account with Darwin added. Darwin is in private beta on Zapier; the setup guide has the invite link.
- Owner or admin access in Darwin, to create an API key for Zapier.

## Questions

**Is this a native HubSpot integration?**

No. It runs through Zapier. Darwin's Zapier app starts the Zap when something happens in your chat, and Zapier's HubSpot app does the work in HubSpot. You choose which fields go where, and you can add filters or extra steps.

**Does it copy contacts Darwin already has?**

No. A Zap acts on events from the moment you turn it on. To bring in earlier leads, download them as a CSV from Conversations in Darwin, or read them with the API.
