# Darwin + Google Calendar

Visitors see the times you are actually free and book straight into your Google Calendar. No scheduling tool sits in the middle.

Connect the Google account that hosts your meetings and set your rules in Darwin: length, weekly hours, buffer and notice. When a visitor is ready, Darwin offers only the times that are actually free on your calendar. The visitor picks one, and the event lands in a Darwin bookings calendar in your account. Google sends the invitation with a Meet link, or a Zoom link if you have connected Zoom.

## What you can do

- **No scheduling tool needed.** Your Google Calendar is the source of truth. Darwin reads what is busy and offers what is free.
- **Rules you set once.** One form, filled in once: how long a call runs, which hours you take them, the breathing room you want around each one, and how much warning you need.
- **Bookings you can trust.** Before the chat says booked, Darwin has read the event back from Google. The meeting then sits in Darwin beside the conversation that produced it.

## How they work together

1. **Connect the account.** Sign in with the Google account that owns the calendar your meetings live on, then approve what Google asks for. Takes about a minute.
2. **Set your booking rules.** How long is a call, and when do you take them? Answer that, add a buffer and a minimum notice if you want them, pick Google Meet, Zoom or no video link, and save.
3. **Let visitors book in chat.** A visitor picks a free time in their own time zone and confirms. The invitation comes from Google; Darwin writes the meeting down.

## Before you connect

- A Google account whose calendar hosts the meetings. Google Workspace and personal Google accounts both work.
- You need owner or admin access in Darwin. New meetings go through one booking provider, so once Google Calendar is connected it replaces Calendly or RevenueHero for them.
- Cancellations and reschedules happen in Google Calendar, and Darwin follows within minutes.

## Questions

**Do I need Calendly or another scheduling tool?**

No. Darwin reads free and busy time from Google Calendar and creates the event itself. Length, hours, buffer and notice all live in Darwin, so there is nothing else to set up.

**Which calendars block a time?**

Your primary calendar and the Darwin bookings calendar that Darwin creates when you connect. Other calendars in the account do not block times, and neither do events marked Free.

**What does the visitor receive?**

A plain Google Calendar invitation sent from your account. By default it carries a Google Meet link; connect Zoom and it carries a Zoom link instead. The visitor cannot change the event or invite anyone else.

**How do I cancel or move a meeting?**

In Google Calendar, the way you would for any other event. Delete it or drag it to a new time. Google tells the visitor, and a few minutes later Darwin has marked the meeting canceled or noted the new time.
